HARRISONBURG, Va.- Area bowlers are getting together to help the Harrisonburg Big Brothers Big Sisters.
They held their annual Bowl for Kids Sake event at Valley Lanes in Harrisonburg today.
Over 750 people registered for the event.
This year they hope to raise up to $70,000 which they say will help hundreds of kids in our area. So far, they've raised at least $100,000.
"We see improvement in educational outcomes, we see the children in our program become less involved in risky behaviors, we see great gains in self-confidence," says Susan Totty, the Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters.
"I think it's a two way relationship as well because I get a lot out of it as well. For example, yesterday we went to Buffalo Wild Wings because the tournaments going on and got wings and watched the game together and it's just awesome," says Sam Medvene, a member of Big Brothers Big Sisters.
The event runs through mid-night Saturday.
