HARRISONBURG--- You may be getting used to the fall weather, but harrisonburg's public works department is getting ready for winter. Friday September 27, crews from Public Works will conduct a dry run of equipment used for the ice and snow program.
The equipment will be checked, staffing requirements evaluated, and supplies checked for readiness. The goal is to be sure that the department is prepared for winter weather.
Mary-Hope Vass, Harrisonburg Public Information Officer, says, "It's really important for us to do these tests and take these measures now, and it helps the winter weather and the snow and ice program run a little smoother once winter weather actually hits."
The tests also serve as a reminder to the public to check their emergency preparedness in the event of bad weather.
