AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va -- It's National Influenza Vaccination Week and nurses at Augusta Health said that already some flu patients have ended up on ventilators in intensive care.
The strong virus is still spreading, but the good news is that this year's flu vaccine is actually well matched to what is going around. That means getting it as soon as possible could save you trouble later.
“Who should get the flu vaccine is anybody that doesn't want to get flu,” said Carolyn Palmer, a nurse at Augusta Health. “We can give it to anybody age six months and above. We highly recommend, at this point in time, that everybody get their flu vaccine.”
Flu season typically ends in April.
