People in Harrisonburg gathered on Saturday afternoon to celebrate diversity at the international festival.

This is the 15th year of the event.

This year's theme is unity in the community.

The international festival co-chair said the event aims to bring people together and celebrate our differences.

Vaunda Brown said the cultural diversity is what makes Harrisonburg a vibrant community.

Those at the festival had a chance to try foods from different countries, see cultural dances and hear ethnic music.

She said learning more about other cultures, increases understanding.

"We have to live together in peace and respect each other and it's a time where we can come together and play, have fun and that makes us friends, that makes us a good place and a good community to live in," Brown said.
