HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- The James Madison University Health Center is preparing to open its doors for students at the University.

The building, which used to be the old Harrisonburg Hospital, will soon open as the new Madison Student Success Center.

Randy Mitchell, the Associate Vice President for Student Success, said the Health Center will provide more space to fit an increase in students and allow more room for growth in the future.

Now, several divisions within their Health Center will have their own space. Some of these divisions include Women's Services, the Nutrition Center, the Pharmacy and Urgent Care.

Organizers hope this will make things cleaner and easier for students at James Madison University.

Some of the new equipment in the Madison Health Center include table beds and a monitor in every room.

"We wanted to do something that would really capture that notion of health and community and giving back. I think we are going to accomplish that in this new facility," said Mitchell.

The James Madison University Health Center will open for students on March 17th. The rest of the building, which will house more than 17 different departments, will be open for the start of the next school year.
