HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- Wednesday was a special day for a different kind of senior at James Madison University.
For the past eight years, the JMU Nursing Student Association has hosted a "senior prom" for residents of Valley retirement homes.
However, this prom is not for high school students, but rather a celebration for the residents.
During the fall semester, nursing students visit local senior centers to encourage social interaction and physical activity for the aging populations in the Valley.
This event is very special to Dottie Randozzo, who is attending for the first time.
"Since I didn't get to go to my senior prom, I said this is great today. Well, I went up there and danced and then had lunch and then danced some more and it was just awesome," said Randozzo.
For the first time, the JMU music department provided the live entertainment, which opened up the dance floor for both students and seniors.
