HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- A very special event is happening in Harrisonburg Saturday as a local group will be honoring our veterans as they return from the Afghan War.

Colin Bowie, a JMU student, is putting the event together.

He says it was his college roommate, Ramsey, who inspired him to honor our veterans.

When asked what it was like for Colin to learn his roommate had to go fight, "Difficult. Afghanistan is a pretty tough place to be, especially in the armed services. So, it was difficult, but he's a patriot," Colin responded.

The event is happening Saturday at Court Square in Harrisonburg.

It kicks off around 2 p.m. and all proceeds from the event go directly to the Fisher House Foundation, an organization which brings injured veterans' families closer to them during their greatest moment of need.
