HARRISONBURG -- You may want to start thinking about where you're going to park this weekend. Friday and Saturday is James Madison University's graduation and you can expect major traffic.
JMU will be packed with proud families and tons of students getting ready to walk the stage. The biggest problem for them is finding a place to park. Maggie Ryan is graduating this Saturday and is making plans for her and her family.
"What my parents and I have worked out is everybody park at the hotel and take a shuttle in. We will meet some where probably near a bus stop (laughs) and make our way over here," said Ryan.
Joshua Fine is a graduating senior and said parking near the campus will be next to impossible.
"Parking is probably going to be a mad house. I am sure that there's going to be traffic all over the place and I don't even plan on trying to park anywhere near campus," said Fine.
He thinks police will do it's best to make sure everyone will be safe. Fine said this weekend may get so busy that he is telling his family to park far away.
"I'm probably gonna just have my parents to park at my apartment complex and then that way we we'll take a bus or a shuttle that comes to campus cause i am pretty sure it's going to be crazy," said fine.
Harrisonburg, JMU Police and Rockingham County Sheriff's Deputies will be out to make sure you are safe. Police said look out for the busiest streets near campus. Streets like Port Republic Road, University Blvd, Reservoir and South Main Streets.
