AUGUSTA COUNTY -- Thursday was the second day of the trial of a man from Maryland, accused of murdering a man at the Skyline Motel. On Thursday, a jury found him guilty of first-degree murder along with malicious wounding and the use of a firearm in commission of a felony. The jury recommended a total sentence of 58 years.
Jerad Ross, was accused of shooting Melvin Jordan four times.
Thursday morning, Ross's ex-girlfriend testified against him in the case and said a fight started between Jordan and Ross over money. She said Jordan had a crack cocaine problem.
She also said Ross told her to lie to police when the incident first happened because Ross threatened her life or said he would make her an accomplice in the case.
