HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- President Obama talked about his administration's goal to create jobs during his State of the Union address, claiming more than 8 million jobs have been created in the last four years.

After the address, John Boehner made a video asking where are those jobs.

New numbers out from the Virginia Employment Commission show unemployment is going down.

For the month of December, the rate in Virginia was 5.2 percent, which was lower than the 6.7 national rate for December.

Ann Lang, an economist from the Virginia Employment Commission, said these are signs of a modest recovery; however, we are still not quite back where we were before the recession started a few years ago.

Lang also said more people were working in December and the number of out of work people went down compared with December 2012.
