Police Searching for Escaped Juvenile

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- Local law enforcement officials are searching for Rosel Guillen-Mendez, 16, who escaped custody Sunday.

He escaped from a juvenile facility in Staunton, Va. at about 6 p.m. Dec. 29. This is not the Shenandoah Valley Juvenile Center, which is located in Verona.

Guillen-Mendez is described as a Hispanic male with a medium complexion, approximately 6 feet tall, and weighs 200 pounds. He also has a tattoo on his right forearm of the word “Mendez.”

He was in custody on charges stemming from an armed bank robbery that took place in Harrisonburg earlier this year in July.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Harrisonburg Crime Solvers at 540-574-5050. Tipsters may also text “HPD” plus the tip to CRIMES (274637).
