HARRISONBURG -- A Virginia mother who left her child in a hot car is charged with child neglect.
Following the incident, Harrisonburg Police Department wants parents to know the same can happen to them. They are warning parents to be more careful this summer when traveling with children.
"Exercise common sense, it's hot outside. Just like dogs in the car, don't leave your kids in the car. Take them everywhere you go," said Corporal Wonderly.
According to kidsandcars.org, more than 30 children die each year as a result of being locked inside a hot car.
