HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- It's the last minute rush for shoppers hoping to get that Christmas gift.
Several stores are extending their hours today and you still have a few hours left to get that shopping done.
Many different stores in the Valley Mall saw different trends in sales this holiday season, but the one thing they all saw in common was that in the past 24 hours, customers completely emptied the shelves.
Becky Whitmer, the manager for Hickory Farms, a holiday kiosk that has been in the mall for the past seven years, said a major difference this year is the shopping was more spread out.
During bad weather, Whitmer said sales were scarce, but this past weekend brought out a lot of the last minute procrastinators and was one of the busiest weekends.
"It has even shocked us because they set us a goal and we try to reach that goal or go above that goal, that day and yesterday we doubled it," said Whitmer.
Managers at the mall said it is hard to get an exact number of how many people have come through because they don't track, but one thing they can say is that they've seen at least 7,000 people come visit Santa, which is similar to previous years.
