FISHERSVILLE, Va. -- The Augusta County Library will host a reader’s theater workshop for children ages 7 to 10 on Tuesday, Feb 25 at 4 p.m. at the Churchville Library Branch and at Thursday, Feb 27 at 4 p.m. at the Fishersville Library.
Following both workshops at 5:30 p.m., the children will present a performance for all ages based on the book The Everything Machine.
Written by Matt Novak, The Everything Machine is about the planet Quirk where life is very easy because of a machine that does everything; however, when the machine stops working, the Quirkians have to figure out how to manage on their own.
The free workshop will include making props, creating costumes and planning, producing and presenting a reader’s theater performance.
With reader’s theater, the children use their voices and facial expressions, but not physical movement, to covey the story.
Children’s Programmer Robin Post says, “Reader’s theater helps increase the children’s interest and understanding of books, while also enhancing their self-confidence and speaking skills.”
To register to participate in the workshop, call the Fishersville Library at 540-885-3961 or the Churchville Library at 540-245-5287.
No registration is required to attend the free performance.
