HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- One Valley kitten played in Sunday's big game, although it wasn't in East Rutherford.
Digger, a cat who formerly lived at Cat's Cradle in Harrisonburg, played in the Hallmark Channel's Kitten Bowl Sunday.
Matt Chan, who works at Cat's Cradle, said there are so many cats and kittens here in the Valley in need of good homes that he sends about 40 cats up to the North Shore Animal League in New York, the largest no-kill shelter in the country, every year.
This time, the kittens were dropped off just in time for a major fundraiser.
"We noticed one of our cats, Digger, was in the Kitten Bowl and he was doing pretty good. I don't know if he scored any touchdowns but adorable to watch obviously," said Chan.
All of the kittens are guaranteed forever homes after their big game.
Chan said it's a very rewarding surprise, being able to save so many cats and in such a fun way.
