HARRISONBURG, VA.--- Famous local country star singer Patsy Cline is the winner of the Shenandoah Bowl. The Shenandoah Valley Travel Association gives this award to someone who helps boost tourism in our area.

Cline's daughter and son-in-law accepted the award on behalf of Cline at the 90th annual membership and board of Director's meeting on Wednesday. She was chosen by an anonymous committee selected by the president.

John Shaffer who is a past president of the board of directors said Cline's performances always brought recognition to the valley. He said her popularity continues to grow even after she passed away, especially with Cline's historic house.

Cline's daughter, Julie Fudge, said it is special that her mom received this recognition.

"To be awarded because people love where you are from, they come to see the beautiful valley and you can be a part of making that happen speaks quite a bit for how they are thankful that she is a part of this valley," said Fudge.

Shaffer said it is not unusual for people who pass away to be granted the Shenandoah Bowl.
