ROCKINGHAM COUNTY -- With flooding in the area, local fire departments are prepared to help in any way possible.

Dale Smith with Singers Glen Fire Company has gas pumps and hoses used to clear basements. For larger issues, the truck is used to pump out water.

They also listen for calls of trees down and remove those if possible. Smith says always be prepared.

"Make sure the equipment is ready to go. If we do get calls to pump basements or trees down or anything like that, due to flooding or severe weather. We'll just make sure we're prepared for it," said Smith.

Smith tests all the hoses frequently by unrolling them and making sure they hook up properly to the equipment.
