Local Jail Prepares for Bench Press Competition Fundraiser

STAUNTON, Va. (WHSV) -- The Middle River Regional Jail is preparing for a bench press competition for anyone in our area who works in public safety.

The goal of the event is to raise money for local charities, including one for Veterans of Foreign Wars and The New Directions Center.

Eddie McKay, the program director for the competition, said the goal is to incorporate more fitness at the correctional facility. It takes place this Saturday at 7 a.m. at Staunton Health and Fitness.

If you work in public safety, it is not too late to sign up, just bring a form of government identification with your agency on it.
