HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- Spring is finally here and lawn care companies are gearing up for what they say is their busiest time of the year.
A local lawn company said the bigger the snowfall, the more moisture is put back into the soil, allowing for a greener and more beautiful spring.
Shawn Tysinger, the owner of Turn-A-Leaf Lawn Care, said every spring they bring in more people and equipment to prepare.
This year, they expect an increase in calls for lawn mowing because of how quickly the grass could grow.
At the same time, he said we will save money on water bills and will be able to give our sprinklers a break because of how much moisture is currently in the soil.
"It keeps us busy. When the grass is growing strong and growing full, we are mowing once a week on properties we are contracted for. Some properties might even be able to use a cut more than once a week," said Tysinger.
Tysinger said this extra moisture in the soil can also have its downsides.
It sometimes makes it harder to get equipment in and out of lawns, which is why breezier days and sunshine will help dry out the ground and soil.
