HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- As many Americans are living their dream of going after the gold medal in Sochi, one man from the former Soviet Union is living out his American Dream, right here in Harrisonburg.
Ivan Levchuk is the owner of Gadget Town, a store which recently moved to Downtown Harrisonburg.
His family moved to the United States in 2002 and like many Americans, he worked his way up.
While working at Marshalls and delivering newspapers, he earned enough money to get his associate degree.
Levchuk said working with technology is a passion he grew up with.
Now, being able to open his own store and be his own boss, makes him feel like he is living the American Dream, on and off the playing field.
"Feeling like you actually accomplished something. You know, one of those good feelings in life when we graduate from school, when we graduate from college and get a nice job. It is one of those feelings that you are doing the right thing and in the right direction," said Levchuk.
Eventually, Levchuk hopes to go back to school, and get his bachelor's degree at James Madison University.
He hopes these skills will allow him to continue growing his business and reach for his own gold medal.
