HARRISONBURG-- Monday was a normal day at school for many kids across the Valley. Local schools made adjustments to make sure everything was routine for the students.
At Lacey Spring Elementary School, the school did several things to make sure students handled the news okay, including having counselors available, and having police officers check-in throughout the day.
The day started off with a faculty meeting, according to principal Donna Robinson. Staff talked about how to work children through the situation, and it was a chance for the faculty to let some of their emotions out.
"To know a school just like ours has been affected in the way they have, it's devastating, it's very emotional. There have been a lot of hugs today with the staff, and with each other," said Robinson.
