As the Valley braced for snow on Thursday morning, street crews in Waynesboro were waiting for the rain to pass.
All morning long, a mix of showers and sleet went through the area.
The bad weather kept street crews inside and Virginia Department of Transportation workers waiting in their trucks.
Any preparations the crews would have done, like salting the roads, would have been washed away by the rain.
Leaders for both the Waynesboro Street Department and V.D.O.T. said they would wait for the snow to arrive before they salted the roads.
Luckily for parents with children in Waynesboro schools, it was a half-day and students were let out before any rough weather hit.
On Friday, students will be off from school due to Lee-Jackson Day.
