ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) -- The United Way of Harrisonburg-Rockingham is pleased to announce Laura Toni-Holsinger as its new Executive Director.
“We are extremely excited about Laura joining United Way of Harrisonburg-Rockingham,” said UW Board Chair, Alan Shelton. “She brings an impressive combination of non-profit management and leadership experience that will be a wonderful addition to the United Way staff. Laura’s passion for building relationships and developing collaborative solutions will serve our community well.”
Following a nationwide search, Toni-Holsinger was selected from more than 40 applicants. She is currently serving as Development and Strategy Consultant for the RISE Faith Community in Harrisonburg and is the board President for the Friendly City Food Co-op.
Prior to moving to the area, Toni-Holsinger served in various leadership roles with the Big Sister Association of Greater Boston and City Year Boston, a national service organization.
Laura graduated with honors from Virginia Tech and earned a Masters degree in Public Administration, Community Leadership and Public Engagement from Suffolk University. She has been an active participant in the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Nonprofit Financial Managers Group, Society for Human Resource Management and other civic and faith based groups.
"I am thrilled to have an opportunity to serve in such an honored role,” said Toni-Holsinger. “I have always admired United Way's ability to bring out the best in a community and those that it serves. It's an exciting time to be a part of such meaningful community impact."
Laura resides in Harrisonburg with her husband, Brent, and daughter, Lucy. She will begin her new role on January 6.
United Way of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County mobilizes the community to advance the common good. Since 1957, United Way has invested more than $28 million dollars in the local community, touching more than a quarter of a million lives.
