This week, schools throughout the country are celebrating “No Name-Calling Week.” Many schools in the area use this week to have programs and activities aimed at curbing bullying.
Some schools are offering awareness counseling for bullying. Elkton Middle School has students making anti-bullying posters for the hallways.
The Rockingham County School Board will be choosing members for an anti-bullying committee this week.
These efforts are aimed at ending name-calling and verbal bullying of all kinds.
“We focus on positive ways to accept others; their differences, diversity, behaviors, appearance, and ways you can reach out to them, meet them, get to know them on a positive side,” said Elkton Middle School Assistant Principal Emily Holloway.
