Local Woman Brings Green Architecture To Brazil

A local woman who specializes in green architecture is taking her talents all the way to Brazil.

Emmalee Morris has already made an impact on new buildings at James Madison University.

One of the buildings that the project engineer has helped design at JMU will soon be the university's new bio-sciences building.

It is "LEED" certified, meaning it meets national standards for green technology. "LEED" stands for leadership in energy and environmental design.

The bio sciences building will join Wayland Hall as LEED certified. More buildings on JMU's campus that will soon be that way.

Now, Morris is heading to Brazil to show their construction workers there how to be green.

"It's an amazing experience. I know I'm going to take so much of it not just professionally, but personally as well," Morris said.

Morris is taking the trip through her construction company, Skanska. They are handling a lot of the construction work ongoing on JMU's campus right now.
