Luray Police Searching For Vandals

LURAY, Va. (WHSV) -- The Luray Police Department is searching for vandals who have caused over $7,000 in damage to parts of the Greenway Trail.

Police responded to numerous acts of vandalism and property damage along the Greenway Trail, Saturday, October 12.

Trash bins, lighting systems and bridge railings were all found damaged. Some places along the trail had been graffitied.

The next day, police responded to a fire set inside a portable restroom at the Greenway Trail's Park and Ride lot.

Due to the damage, some sections of the Greenway Trail are closed.

At this point in the investigation, police have identified five individuals between the ages of 15 and 20 who will be arrested at the conclusion of the investigation.

The department will seek both restitution and charges individually for their respective roles in the property damages.

The majority of the five individuals identified have now been prohibited from using or trespassing on any Town owned property.
