One of those victims, Carla Williams, was originally from Luray and now many people in the community are grieving for her and her family.

Family, neighbors and even strangers are feeling the impacts of this tragedy.

Wendy Veney is an in-law of Carla Williams' family.

She said she went to high school with Williams and she was deeply disturbed to hear about her death.

"Just my thoughts on it is it was just tragic and it was senseless and I'm really sorry that it happened and I'm really praying for the family," said Veney.

Neighbors are praying too.

Lewin Boston lives right next door to Williams' mother in Luray.

"I'm shocked of what happened and it's very tragic and I'm sorry that it happened. My heart goes out to the family and friends," said Boston.

Raj Kumar, Veney's coworker, has worked at the gas station for 11 years. He said in all those years he's never heard so many people talking about the same thing in the small town.

"Everybody's talking about it. Since I came in the morning, seven-o'clock everybody's talking about that," said Kumar.

He said almost every customer he had Thursday was upset about the news.

"Everybody's sad. You know, like what happened?"

Boston said the incident really impacted the entire community.

"A lot of people are just upset and devastated," said Boston.

A devastated community left with only memories of Williams and her family.

"Just remember she was a wonderful person. She was a good mother, good friend, daughter, niece, granddaugther. She was a good woman," said Veney.

The suspected killer, Travis Williams also died during the incident after a shoot-out with police.
