Luray police have seized thousands of dollars of synthetic cocaine.
So-called "bath salts" are illegal in Virginia, but they're now creeping in through the mail.
Police are saying postal workers took an extra step to help stop this crime.
If you see something, say something and according to Luray investigator James Moomaw that's just what some post office employees did.
With the cooperation of postal inspectors the Luray Police Department was able to take in about $7,000 worth of K-2 and bath salts.
Earlier this month some local police departments were seeing a decline but now the drug is creeping back by getting mailed from states where it is still legal or being bought online.
Investigator James Moomaw says, "They're shipping it in and we're stopping it, which is good"
Investigator Moomaw says he wants it off the streets for good.
Moomaw says, "A lot of our other crimes are related to this. You talk about $40-$50 for a little pack where do they get that money? They're not working, so their stealing. And their selling and stealing and buying. Whatever they can to get this stuff. This here is affecting everything.
Investigator Moomaw says we need a federal law that would ban synthetic drugs from all states because it is so dangerous.
Moomaw says, "You just don't know what it will do to you. You may use it one time and it will kill you.
