HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- Organizers are preparing for Governor-elect Terry Mcauliffe's inauguration this weekend.
The Governor's inaugural parade will have lots of different talent and organizations from all over the state, including the James Madison University Marching Royal Dukes.
This has been a big year for the marching band, after being put in the national spotlight during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
They were invited by the Governor-elect, Terry McAuliffe, to participate in the inaugural parade, which is typically an application process.
Nathan Saxman, a drum major with the Madison Marching Band, said events like these help put Harrisonburg in the national spotlight.
"It gives James Madison University national exposure which is an incredible thing for the university as a whole. It is something we see as a great opportunity for admissions, it gives them a lot of exposure and it gives us the opportunity to show off what kind of organization we are," said Saxman.
James Madison University is scheduled to be the first band in the parade. More than half the band will attend the optional event.
The group will be performing "Seventy-Six Trombones" and the traditional fight song.
