HARRISONBURG, VA. -- The pile up Sunday impacted many people in our area, including the manager at Blue Ridge Tire who was returning from a hiking trip.
"Around 6' o clock we got stuck in traffic on 81around mile marker 185," said Kenny Heishman, the manager at Blue Ridge Tire.
Heishman was stuck for about 30 minutes in traffic on 81 North. Being the manager at blue ridge tire has taught him a lot about what to do with cars when stuck in traffic.
"If you're concerned that you're running low on gas or going to be and you can stand the heat outside, you can always roll the windows down and turn the AC off, so that you're not expending as much gas as you may be," said Heishman.
Another concern for your car when sitting in traffic is overheating, Heishman recommends having plenty of coolant in the car.
Also, checking your tires before getting on the highway will help you save on gas.
"So always check your air pressure, you should do it about once a month," said Heishman.
If you've had just about enough of sitting in traffic and waiting, you can always pull out your smart phone or tablet and go to the app "I'm stuck", this way you can file a complaint.
The app allows you to file a complaint about roadways to your local congressman with the click of a finger.
