Man Airlifted to UVA Medical Center After Accident in Staunton

STAUNTON -- On Saturday, a man was flown to UVA Medical Center after being in an accident on Mountain View Drive.

Local police say the man suffered serious injuries after he was hit by an out of control trailer.

The incident happened around 11 am on Saturday.

Police say they got a call after a man and his friend were removing an excavator from the back of a truck.

When they removed the excavator, the change in weight in the back of the truck caused the back to lift up and lose it's brakes.

According to police, the truck started rolling down a hill with a man inside.

The man jumped out, however, moments later he was struck by the trailer attached to the truck.

He was airlifted to UVA Medical Center. Police say he suffered a serious leg injury.
