ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) -- Police arrested David Valentine, 24, or Weyers Cave, Wednesday night after he crashed into a power pole, causing minor power outages.

Valentine is charged with two counts of property damage, a DUI and not wearing a seat belt.

At about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday night, the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 600 block of Gravels Road for a car crash.

The 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass sedan hit a Dominion Power pole, causing a short term power outage in the area.

The car was split in half, as was the power pole and Valentine fled the accident on foot prior to law enforcement's arrival.

After searching the area extensively for some time, with the assistance of the Harrisonburg Police Department and the Virginia State Police, Valentine was located near the intersection of Gravels Road and Kratzer Road.

Valentine was taken immediately to RMH for treatment for visible injuries.

Both alcohol and speed were factors in the crash, and there were no other occupants.

Valentine is currently being held without bond at the Rockingham Harrisonburg Regional Jail.
