UPDATE: Man Flown to UVA Medical Center After Wreck

AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) -- UPDATE 6/1/2014 10:03 p.m.

Workers at UVA Medical Center said James Spencer, the man involved in the moped wreck, is in stable condition in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit.

A man is injured after State Police say he crashed his moped on Mt. Torrey Road in Lyndhurst.

Virginia State Police said James Spencer of Waynesboro was airlifted to UVA Medical Center after the incident. Police said Spencer drove off the side of the road and was thrown from the moped. According to troopers, alcohol is a factor. No word on Spencer's condition.

According to the Augusta County Sheriff's Office, Spencer was conscious and answering questions after the wreck.

One lane was blocked for half an hour after the wreck, which occured at about 2 p.m.
