Marine Helicopter Crashes en Route to Norfolk-Based USS Mesa Verde

A U.S. Marine Corps helicopter crashed in the Gulf of Aiden on Monday on it's way back to the Norfolk-based USS Mesa Verde.

The Navy says the helicopter had 17 Marines and eight Navy sailors on board.

In a statement the Navy says some crew was injured in the crash, adn they were treated on board the USS Mesa Verde.

The helicopter was shuttling them from a training mission ashore in Djibouti back to the ship.

The Navy says the crash was not because of hostile activity.
