It was all a part of Heifetz International Music Institute's summer program held at Mary Baldwin College.
For six weeks, Heifetz teachers worked with students who play violin, viola and cello. Students came from nine countries to be a part of the program.
Heifetz is based in Staunton and Justin Reiter, the director hoped to make sure students understand the emotional aspect of music.
“The Heifetz Institute wants to change the concert paradigm. It's not just about technical agility. It's about being able to show joy when you need to, or show something majestic when you need to. That's what you're trying to relay to the audience.”
The student's first concert was Thursday night on the Blackfriar's Stage in Staunton at 7:30 p.m.
