Heroes Celebration

HARRISONBURG, Va. - New details from an event that was held yesterday to honor veterans of the war in Afghanistan.

James Madison University student Colin Bowie put on the event that was simply called "A Hero's Celebration" to welcome back his roommate Ramsey Homoud, who was returning from a tour of duty in Afghanistan.

They held a dance party last night at the Artful Dodger in Harrrisonburg which more than 200 people turned out for.

Ramsey says all of the support from the community really means a lot.

"It's good knowing when you come back after the stress of being in the deployment zone you realize any day it's not even in your control whether or not you live or die, because the mortars just come down and it's not with any accuracy or anything, its just random," says Homoud.

They raised over $400 which will be donated to the Fisher House Foundation.
