Mount Solon Man Killed In Crash

Lacey Spring -- A Mount Solon man died Saturday night in a single-vehicle crash in Rockingham County.

Emergency crews responded Lacey Spring Road, near the intersection of North Valley Pike, about 9 p.m.

Sgt. Les Tyler of the Virginia State Police said 22-year-old Steven Brooks was driving a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse eastbound on Lacey Spring Road when he ran off the road to the left, over corrected and ran off the road to the right.

Tyler said the vehicle then struck a tree.

Police say Brooks was ejected from the car and died at the scene.

Three passengers were also taken to the hospital. One was flown to the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville. The other two were taken by ambulance to Sentara RMH Medical Center.

Their conditions have not been released.

Tyler said alcohol was a factor in the crash.
