An Elkton woman accused of helping her brother killed an 80-year-old Mount Sidney man on Aug. 28 made her first court appearance Thursday in Augusta County General District Court.
Laura Lee Williams is charged with felony first-degree murder.
During the brief hearing, a judge appointed an attorney for the 34-year-old defendant.
The judge also scheduled Williams to return to court on Dec. 16 for a preliminary hearing.
Williams’ brother, Richard Clay Smith, 34, is charged with capital murder.
Police say Smith was arrested on Tuesday in Page County after stealing another vehicle in Fauquier County.
He’s currently being held without bond at the Middle River Regional Jail without bond. He’s scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 12 for a first appearance.
Andrea Mullan, another alleged accomplice, was arrested in Washington Township, N.J., near Philadelphia. She is awaiting extradition. She was arrested on fraud charges in Page County.
Additional charges are pending in Augusta and Rockingham counties.
