HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV)-- Police believed they had a tip on Smith at the Valley Mall on Sept.1. They policed every entrance at the mall this afternoon, and even used K-9 officers inside the mall.

They reviewed surveillance footage from Country Cookin, where Smith was reportedly seen.

After searching the mall and parking lots, Smith was not found. Shoppers took quick notice of the increased security.

"I don't think they want to unduly alarm the public. I think that might be the reason that they're being tactful in doing this. But when you see officers and you're not accustomed to seeing them in the mall like this,
it is kind of alarming. you start wondering what's going on," said Jennie Amison, a Valley Mall shopper.

Investigators will continue to be on the lookout for Smith.
