HARRISONBURG, Va.-- A music conference brought more visitors to the area over the weekend.

The event called MACRock featured nearly 80 independent bands from all over the county at downtown businesses.

The two-day conference also included panels about the independent music industry.

Coordinator Marisa Cagnoli said the not-for-profit event helps bring customers to local businesses.

"I think it definitely puts Harrisonburg on the spot for music and in general as just a really cool little place, especially our downtown area," said Cagnoli." I feel a lot of people outside of Harrisonburg as well as a lot of people at James Madison University don't really know much about."

This is the 16th year students, businesses and community put together MACRock.
