National Post Traumatic Stress Awareness Day

HARRISONBURG,Va. (WHSV)-- Those suffering from PTSD are aware of it every day. Vietnam veteran Jim Hughes has had PTSD for over 40 years. He said it never goes away, you just learn to cope with it.

"Don't be afraid to ask for help. That's the biggest thing. You can't quote un-quote talk about it. You don't talk about the horror stories of your experiences in combat. You tell about the funny stories," said Hughes.

If you or a family member is suffering from PTSD, we have links where you can find help on our web channel. Go to whsv.com and click the find it link for more information.
