AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va -- The Big Give, an idea that started at local churches, is a chance for people who need help to get donated items, like clothes and shoes.

Nearly 500 volunteers worked for months to prepare this year's Big Give.

Last year, volunteers helped about 6,000 people. This year they expect nearly double that number.

One volunteer said the Big Give is a chance to make a difference in someone's life.

“It's amazing. It's amazing to see how many people in our area are hurting,” said Keith Harris, a volunteer, “Our whole idea or concept is if we can get the churches together, and work together as one, we can do some pretty awesome things.”

The Big Give will be held this Saturday at the Augusta Expo in Fishersville. Organizers said they want everyone to know anyone is welcome to stop by and get some helpful items, all for free.
