FISHERSVILLE, Va. -- Sheryl Smith lives in the Emerald Hills subdivision in Fishersville. In the past few weeks, she and her neighbors have been waking up to a surprise all over their driveways.
"There were just two or three eggs lying in the corner of the garage, most of the shells laying on the driveway," said Smith "Angry that this happened in our community, we lived here nine years, there's never been anything even remotely resembling anything like this."
Most of them hit her garage, missing her car. Many of her neighbors' cars got hit by eggs.
"You can see four or five eggs on the windows, they drip down onto the doors, some of them were on the front of the cars, and all over the hoods," said Smith.
This kind of thing has been going on in this neighborhood since the end of July, but what sounds like a simple prank, may cost them big bucks.
James Estep is the owner of Curb Appeal Auto Body and says you need you need to look out for this sort of thing because it could get costly.
"If you don't get it off almost immediately, it will damage your car," said Estep,"It will ruin the paint, so it goes clean through and it eats right through the clear coat and the only way you can resolve this is to sand that area down and re-paint it."
On top of the eggings, someone stole several letters from the sign at the entrance of their neighborhood.
Smith says all the vandalism really upsets her.
"It makes me disappointed, it makes feel that somebody feels the need to do something so useless and gain absolutely nothing and I think parents need to be more vigilant about where their driving age teenagers are in the middle of the night," said Smith.
