HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- Some neighbors in an apartment complex are forced to drive to the post office to get their mail, after a snow plow truck hit the mailbox.

The broken mailbox currently sits on a curb at the Hunter's Ridge apartments. The broken mailbox usually serves neighbors at building 1346.

Matchbox Realty, the company managing the property, said a contractor working on snow removal hit the mailbox after the snow storm two weeks ago.

Cherish Johnson-Reyes said she was not notified about the incident; however, she has been going to the mailbox since it occurred.

"It is just really just an inconvenience. My roommate and I are very busy, she doesn't have a car so when either of us needs something, [it is inconvenient] having to drive out there and spending gas money," said Johnson-Reyes.

Matchbox Realty said it took a while to fix the problem because the homeowners association had to approve the mailbox expense.

The new mailbox is expected to be delivered within 10 business days.
