ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (WHSV) -- "Party tonight in aspen heights. text or message me for details," tweeted @ChansleyParker.

"Naked pool party going on, wait is this real life?" said another tweet.

Those are just some of the comments floating around on social media about the new off-campus development Aspen Heights.

Parties like this, featuring a student standing on a surf board in a crowd, continue to make neighbors lose sleep.

"There was loud music going on an abundance of people till late in the morning," said Mark Whalen who lives near Aspen Heights.

"I think littering and urinating in public and screaming and yelling is just not the right thing to do in a surrounding community like this," said Angie Miller, who also lives near Aspen Heights.

Whalen posted a private property sign on his yard this weekend to keep trespassers away.

Whalen sent a four page letter to the mayor of Harrisonburg, the sheriff's office, the developer for Aspen Heights and the Rockingham County Board of Supervisors, District 4, requesting that they control the situation.

"It kind of depends on the management what do they wish to do, how do they wish to regulate that property and then once they make some of those decisions, then we'll make our plans and our own decisions accordingly," said Rockingham County Sheriff Bryan Hutcheson.

"My hope is that it dies down as the school year kind of rolls on and it gets colder and it gets harder for people to get out here," said Stephen Kurtzke, who lives in Aspen Heights.

Sheriff Hutcheson said some arrests were made this weekend when several thousand people gathered.

After contacting Aspen Heights for a comment, we have not received a response.

Aspen Heights is temporarily offsetting the cost of the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office's surveillance during the weekend.
