Women are moving up in the military. That's after an announcement from the Pentagon that will allow women to move closer to the front line in combat.
A cadet in the military program at Mary Baldwin College says it's about time. She said this move would promote more women within the military ranks: which would give more opportunities to those women.
She said this would go well with the way wars are changing today.
"A lot of women do find themselves in combat situations just because the war right now it's not structured. It's very guerrilla warfare, so a lot of women end up being thrown into combat situations regardless of where they are and what their branch is and mission is," said Kaitlyn Cerow, a cadet at Virginia Women's Institute for Leadership.
Cerow says it wouldn't be her first choice to move towards the front line, but she thinks it's a great step for women in combat.
