STAUNTON, Va -- Valley Mission leaders are working on a new computer room, but issues with building permits halted the construction. Those permits took a little extra time to be approved.
The project is now up and running. Walls have been built and cable installed for the Internet services. Installing the carpet is one of the last things they need to do.
Eventually, six computers will be available for job hunting and job related education.
“There are a lot of hoops that you have to jump through anytime you do any building,” said Executive Director of Valley Mission Susan Richardson. “We've also had a dorm renovation upstairs that we've been trying to implement at the same time. Anytime you have concurrent projects, one tends to get put on the back burner."
The new dorms are being designed with the needs of families in mind.
A new after school program for some of the mission's youngest residents started at the end of October.
