Welcome news Satuday night for many in Harrisonburg, as "Our Community Place" held a celebration dinner to for their re-opening after being closed a month.
The dinner was held at Community Mennonite Church, the same church that also stepped in to help the homeless while community place was closed. They shut down in September to re-assess their vision after being open for three years non-stop. Volunteers say they were overworked and understaffed.
Profiles of those who have come through the palce were put on display at the dinner, with messages of how they've improved their lives through place services.
Exec. Director Phillipe Fisher-Rhodes says the idea of the dinner was to thank everyone who has contirbuted time and money to the organization.
"As we're reopening, we want them to be with us. To share the vision with us. To give us ideas even," he says.
He also says the month off really helped them, and they're looking forward to getting underway again.
Students from James Madison University volunteered to contribute and cook the food that was served.
