PAGE COUNTY, Va.--- A former Page County Administrator received $110,000 in a lawsuit settlement with Page County.

Mark Belton filed a complaint against Page County in March claiming he was dismissed because of his frequent absences to serve in the U.S. Navy Reserve.

Board of Supervisors Chairman Johnny Woodward said the county will pay $60,000 and the county's insurance will pay $50,000.

"It shouldn't have a lot of effect in the county because is nothing to what he was asking for so I don't think it will. It comes out of a fund that is already budgeted money so that shouldn't affect the budget at all," said Woodward.

According to Woodward, the money comes out of the supervisor's fund, which is money set aside for them to use for projects. Woodward said Belton asked for more than the agreement reached. However, Woodward said he could not disclose the amount.

WHSV contacted Belton's Attorney and did not receive a phone call back.
