HARRISONBURG, Va --- On the weekend of Oct 5, parking spots throughout Downtown Harrisonburg will be turned into mini green spaces. It is part of a nationwide movement to help people see what cities would look with more green areas.
Event organizers said that this is all about making Harrisonburg a place people can enjoy.
“It gets other people thinking about that bigger vision and how Harrisonburg can look and feel different by simple little designs,” said Suzi Carter, a parklet co-organizer.
The Parklet Project is to help raise awareness for the Northend Greenway. The Greenway will connect Downtown Harrisonburg to the Eastern Mennonite University area with green areas and parks.
